Come meet Bor at OpenFest 2026

On 7 and 8 November, Bor goes to OpenFest in Sofia. We’ll have a stand for the whole weekend, and on Saturday I’ll be giving a talk about the project.

OpenFest has been the meeting point of the Bulgarian free software community for many years, and it’s where a lot of us first met the people we still work with today. Bringing Bor there feels a bit like bringing it home.

The talk

On Saturday at 12:15 in hall “Varna” I’ll speak (in Bulgarian) about managing Linux workstations with Bor.

More and more organizations are putting Linux on their desktops, and sooner or later someone gets asked the awkward question: how do we actually manage all these machines? I spent years as that someone. Bor is the tool I wish I’d had. The talk is about why we built it, how it works, and where it’s going. Bring your questions, and your war stories too.

The stand

If 45 minutes in a lecture hall isn’t your thing, come and find us at the Bor stand on either day. We’ll have Bor running live, so you can push a policy and watch it land on a desktop in real time, or just ask us anything.

We’d especially like to talk to you if you look after Linux machines at a school, a municipality, a company, or a hackerspace. Tell us what’s hard about it, what Bor is missing, and what would make it useful for you. That kind of conversation shapes the roadmap more than anything else.

See you there

OpenFest takes place at Interpred WTC Sofia, 36 Dragan Tsankov Blvd. Check the full programme, plan your weekend, and stop by to say hello.
